30 years ago in Tiananmen square the Communist Party open fired on a peaceful gathering of students who wanted less corruption in the government, more accountability, freedom of speech and democracy. They were gunned down by the Communist Party of China. The students were unarmed. Hundreds if not thousands were killed. To add insult to injury the parents of the students are to this day still harassed, intimidated and even jailed if they mourn the death of their loved ones. The Chinese Communist Party has over the years tried to whitewash history, distort facts and say that nobody died in the massacre. Those who commemorate the massacre face intimdation and even illegal detention. History does not forget and tonight at Victoria Park in Hong Kong 180,000 people attended the vigil to remember those who died and ensure that the perpetrators of the bloodshed be reminded that justice will be served one day.
The Chinese Communist Party of today is the Nazi party of the 1930s. Like the Nazi party of Germany in the 30s the Chinese Communist Party was able to lift the economy out of the doldrom and the economic achievement of the Communist Party is commendable. Like the Nazi party the Chinese Communist Party has built concentration camps to “purify” muslims in Xinjiang where millions are incarcerated without having committed any crimes. The dissenters in Hong Kong are imprisoned using arcane laws that were exhumed to serve the Communist Party’s political ends. Like the Nazi party the Chinese Communist Party has a propaganda department like one headed by Goebbel that actively promulgates untruths. Those who have been taken in by the propaganda over the last few decades must wake up to reality of what is happening in China and the atrocities the Communisty Party continues to commit. One can take the Neville Chamberlain approach or one can take the Churchillian approach. History remembers.
